Time Banking is a social change movement of neighbors helping neighbors in 22 countries and six continents.

For every hour you spend doing something for someone in your community, you earn one Time Credit. Then you have a Time Credit to spend on having someone do something for you; It's that simple, yet it has profound effects.

Many of us have friends, neighbors and family members who help us out, but they can’t always be there. A community time bank is like having an extended family to help out—with rides to the doctor, trips to the supermarket, help with the yard, chores around the house or childcare. With time banking, sharing gifts means building trust. The Hour 4 Hour Time Exchange, serving Thurston County communities in Washington state, honors the unique gifts, talents and resources that each of us has to share, regardless of age, employment or ethnic background — such as tutoring, yard work, simple repairs, running errands, and storytelling. It’s labor with love.

Time Bank members log the hours they spend helping and being helped by neighbors on the Community Weaver web site, an online software program for Time Banks across the world. The web site is also used to list the services a member is offering, find services they need that others are offering, and get community news.
